Tura(Meghalaya), July 4: The Non Gazetted Employees Association (NGEA) has sought a clarification on the status of the resignation of the former secretary to the GHADC, Rikse R Marak after the vehicle she was using under GHADC was seen lying in the Tura police station in West Garo Hills.
According to the NGEA, the vehicle, which was being used by Rikse R Marak has apparently been lying in the precincts of the Tura PS despite their being no case being registered against it.
“After a prolonged demand for the removal of the former secretary, Rikse R Marak, the CEM, Benedict Marak considered our plea and released the secretary in the month of May, 2021. However after her release, the vehicle that she was officially using is lying in the Tura PS,” said NGEA joint secretary, Flaming Marak.
The Mahindra Scorpio that was allotted for the use of the former secretary bore registration ML 08G 3051.
“We sought a clarification from the police and found out that there was no case against the vehicle which makes it surprising that it is lying there. If there is no case against the said vehicle, what is the reason behind keeping the said vehicle of GHADC in Tura Police Station,” he asked.
Flaming apparently had informed the executive member in charge of transportation on the matter and was informed that they were yet to receive a resignation letter from the former secretary. Further no handover of duties has also been completed.
“In this regard we seek a response from the new EC of the GHADC, under whose custody the vehicle is being kept at the Tura PS on whether the vehicle still belongs to the GHADC,” he added.
The NGEA asserted that being a public institution, the vehicle was a property of the public and as such should be cared for by the GHADC authorities.
