Shillong (Meghalaya), May 11: In a shocking turn of events, Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, was produced before the Sessions Court in Shillong today. She was brought to Shillong under tight security late Tuesday night, after being taken into custody in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.
Before being produced in court, Sonam was sent to Ganesh Das Hospital for a medical test. According to police sources, during her medical examination, three types of pregnancy tests were conducted, and all three yielded negative results.
Sonam, along with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and four other accused individuals – Anand Kurmi, Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and another accused – was brought before the court amidst heavy security. The police investigation revealed that Sonam allegedly plotted the murder due to her extramarital affair with Raj Kushwaha.
According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem, the Meghalaya Police obtained six days of transit remand for the accused arrested in Madhya Pradesh and three days for those arrested in Uttar Pradesh. The police are seeking police custody to further investigate the case.
After the court proceedings, the accused will be taken to Sohra to recreate the sequence of events, helping investigators gather more evidence. The case has sparked public outrage, and the court will likely see intense scrutiny as the case unfolds.
