Shillong (Meghalya) , April 15 : The lone victim of COVID -19 Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang, will be cremated today at the Electric crematorium situated in Jhalupara area of the city after which, the ashes will be taken for burial.
According to the state Health Minister A. L. Hek, the ashes would be taken for burial to the graveyard as per the decision of the family.
Dr Sailo, passed away this morning at around 3 am am after he was tested positive within 48 hours of his detection .
Meanwhile ,Commissioner Health & Family Welfare , Sampath Kumar said that six of the samples collected from the first batch of 68 persons have tested positive . Among them 3 are females , 2 males and 1 child .
He said that the reports are awaited from NEIGHRIMS in Shillong , Guwahati Medical College in Guwahati and Barpeta Medical College in Barpeta .
He added that the samples had to sent to Guwahati and Barpeta due to the urgency of the situation and limited capacity of testing facilities in NEIGHRIMS situated in Shillong.
