Shillong ( Meghalaya), July 20 : The Covid situation in the state remains an issue of concern with 13 more deaths and 500 new cases detected in the state in the last 24 hours .
The death toll has now gone up to 968 .
Among the new deaths , 7 were reported from East Khasi , 2 each from West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills and 1 each from North Garo Hills and West Garo Hills .
According to official sources , 500 fresh cases were detected in the state on Tuesday with East Khasi Hills on the top with 148 cases followed by 108 cases in South Garo Hills .

476 patients were discharged on Tuesday after recovery .
The state now has 4,044 active cases .
