Shillong (Meghalaya), July 22 : The state today recorded 96 new Covid cases and 2 fatalities .
1 death was reported from East Khasi Hills while the second one was from West Garo Hills .
According to Health Department statement, 28 new Covid cases were reported from East Khasi Hills , 3 from East Garo Hills , 5 from South Garo Hills , 2 from Eastern West Khasi Hills , 4 from Ri Bhoi , 5 from South Garo Hills , 47 from West Garo Hills 2 from South West Garo Hills , 3 from West Jaintia Hills and 2 from West Khasi Hills .
30 patients were also declared recovered today .
Meanwhile , the country added 21,880 new coronavirus infections, with which the active cases came to a total of 1,49,482, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday. The death toll climbed to 5,25,930 with 60 new fatalities.
The active cases comprise 0.34 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.46 per cent, the ministry said.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.25 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 4.64 per cent, according to the ministry.
