Nongpoh(Meghalaya), June 30: The Committee on Petitions of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, in collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District, organized an awareness program for Block Development Officers (BDOs), Self Help Groups (SHGs), and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Nongpoh.
The program, chaired by Brightstarwell Marbaniang, MLA (Mawlai) and Acting Chairman of the Committee, aimed to raise awareness about the roles and responsibilities of the Committee on Petitions in addressing public grievances.
Committee members Remington Gabil Momin, MLA (Rambrai-Jyrngam), Charles Marngar, MLA (Mawhati), and Dr. Mizanur Rahman Kazi, MLA (Rajabala) were present at the program. Mayralborn Syiem, MLA (Nongpoh), and Abhilash Baranwal, Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District, also attended the event.
The program provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss ways to strengthen civic engagement and legislative awareness in the district. All four BDOs of Ri Bhoi District participated in the program, which is expected to enhance the district’s governance and community development initiatives.
