The Minister also stated that students of the day are curious and crave for more knowledge by leveraging on technology for searching educational contents and he expressed hope that with the launching of the DIKSHA- Meghalaya, teachers, learners and education officials can reap the benefits of the platform in the day to day teaching-learning process.
It may be mentioned that DIKSHA – a national digital infrastructure launched by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) allows states to leverage a common technological backbone and integrate their respective teacher initiatives based on their goals, needs and capabilities. DIKSHA will take advantage of the efforts put in by a few teachers in a few states and take it to all teachers in all states. DIKSHA- Meghalaya will soon host additional features, with the primary focus on teacher’s development as teachers are considered the most important lever of change in education.
Meghalaya also recognizes the role of good digital content in enhancing teaching learning and improving learning outcomes and the state has printed the first edition of Energized Text Books for Core Science and Mathematics for Classes 9 & 10 this academic year after the conduct of series of workshops for developing contents.
The state believes that the interactive audio-visual content, assessments and animations will make learning engaging for children thereby helping them understand concepts better. It is also expected to reduce the pressure on teachers by providing them with a range of curated content linked to the curriculum that they can use while preparing for classes.
The government of Meghalaya will be conducting rigorous training sessions on how to use the online content effectively to ensure that all its teachers are aware of how to make the best use of the energized textbooks and the available online content. It is also embarking on a journey to create and curate quality content by trained state government teachers that can be leveraged by all states through the DIKSHA platform.
