Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 25 : A criminal case under relevant provisions of law has been registered against United Bangal Liberation Army for criminal conspiracy and for threat to wage conflict against local populace in the state and criminal intimidation against the state Chief Minister.
Additional Inspector General of Police GK Iangrai in a statement said that a criminal case under relevant provisions of law has been registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station here and investigation is on.
It may be mentioned that the UBLA in an unsigned letter dated Oct 19, circulated on social media warned pressure groups in the North East and the Indian government against any infringement to implement the Assam Accord and the National Register Citizens (NRC) in Assam and against NSCN-IM and Nagaland their own flag and freedom.
UBLA claimed that the outfit “stands upright for the People of Bangal and for Banga Bhumi have been observing quite a number of atrocities against the Bangali People in Meghaloi by the Khasi Students Union Organization since 1979.”
“This is not a negotiation or a dialogue letter but an ultimatum to any who dares to touch the sentiments of the Bangali people, they are going to face dire consequences in the near future,” they said.
“Our Banga Senas are ready to plot for an unimaginable situation in Meghaloi towards you and your supporters. We will ensure that the 1.4 million Khasia People will be sent back to their place of origin in Cambodia in a flash and without forgetting that Meghaloi and the rest of North East India is part and parcel of Banga Bhumi,” the letter said.
The ULBA further asserted, “Notwithstanding the demand of Gorkhaland by the Chief Minister, to recall his Excellency, there is no Gorkhaland in Bangal but in Nepal. If provoked, in any minute he will be in the list.”
Meghalaya Police has appealed to citizens to refrain from inciting breach of communal peace and harmony, and warned that if any person is found to be contravening the statutory provisions of law, stringent action will be taken against them.
