Shillong (Meghalaya), April 28 : 2 more Covid fatalities were reported in Shillong today and a total 159 new Covid -19 cases were detected .
According to official sources , Uginia Rymbai (52 years ), of Nongpoh in Ri-Bhoi, was admitted to Civil Hospital here on Tuesday morning and passed away after some time . The cause of death was Covid-19 pneumonia with Type 1 respiratory failure, severe acute respiratory distress syndrome, Type 2 diabetes and hypertension.
Another Covid -19 patient, Sunita Limbu (54 years ), from Jhalupara area , was admitted to Civil Hospital here on April 25. She passed away on Tuesday evening. The Cause of death was due to Covid-19 pneumonia with Type 1 respiratory failure and severe acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Today out of the 159 new cases , 116 were from East Khasi Hills , 13 from West Khasi Hills, 12 from Ri Bhoi , 9 from West Garo Hills , 4 from South Garo Hills, 2 each from East Garo Hills and and West Garo Hills and 1 from South West Garo Hills .
138 patients were also declared recovered today .
The state tally now stands at 16, 430 with 1,475 active cases after 14, 758 patients recovered . The death toll stands at 167 .
