Dimapur (Nagaland), April 28 : Although the Nagaland government, imposed a total lockdown with “consolidated guidelines” from April 30 to May 14 at a cabinet meet held on Tuesday due to the surge in the COVID-19 cases in the state, hectic preparations are on for the 29th NSF general conference which was relocated to Kohima from Ukhrul, Manipur supposed to be hosted by Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TSK) .
The conference will now be held on the theme “Towards Harmony” at the Naga Solidarity Park in Kohima.
Naga Students Federation (NSF) Vice-President, Dievi Yano, told South Asia Views that the proposed conference to be hosted by the NSF will be held as scheduled on April 30 with former NSF president and minister of Housing and Mechanical, Nagaland, Tongpang Ozukum, as special guest for the theme session, also said that in the valedictory session, former NSF president and MLA, Nagaland,Y. Vikheho Swu, will be the special guest while Publisher, Morung Express, Dr. Akum Longchari, will be the theme speaker.
Yano also mentioned that the conference will be held following all precautionary measures relating toCOVID-19 SoPs where five (5) representatives from its each federation units, two (2) each from sub- ordinate bodies, have been invited as delegates.
He later informed that every federation units and sub-ordinate bodies to reach Kohima by Thursday and mandatorily register themselves with the reception committee are requested to bring two traditional shawls of both genders and two nos of their respective flags measuring 4×6 Ft.
Also informing that all delegates to compulsorily attend all the sessions, the NSF vice-president said that “prestigious award” will be given to the best discipline unit on the theme : Towards Harmony
“Towards Harmony”, is to live in dignity with the shared purpose of peaceful co-existence and respectful relationships, is what the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) strives to achieve both within Naga society and with our neighbours and our diversity is what gives vibrancy and vitality to our “interdependence.”
Concerned for the betterment, progress and prosperous well-being of the Naga generations, NSF called upon the youths to help create a harmonious environment where respect, democracy, justice and peace which are the founding stones of interdependent relationships, which means casting away prejudicial stereotypes and learning to appreciate and respect the Naga diversity.Can Naga focus on the inclusive policies and approaches that benefit everyone? Can we learn from the past and build a hopeful future by accepting differences and building on commonness? Can we become a force for co-operation and collaboration?
Even as NSF reaches out to our neighbours for a dialogue to understand each other’s hopes, fears, interests and needs-NSF believes that recognizing and respecting and respecting each others’ basic human rights are key for peace and harmony in the region as common future calls for a harmonious co-existence.
