Shillong ( Meghalaya) , June 9 : 16 more Covid -19 patients succumbed to their infections and 448 new Covid -19 cases were detected in the state in the last 24 hours .
According to an official press statement , 16 more deaths were reported in the state in the last 24 hours .
Among the new casualties East Khasi Hills reported 9 deaths , West Jaintia Hills 5 and one each was reported from West Garo Hills and North Garo Hills .
A total of 448 new cases were detected out of which 261 cases were from East Khasi Hills .

A total of 507 patients were discharged on Wednesday after full recovery .
The active cases as of now stand at 4894 .
