Shillong (Meghalaya), May 15: Meghalaya emerged victorious in the 3rd NECDC Senior Men’s Interstate Friendship Tournament 2025, defeating two-time champions and hosts Nagaland by 110 runs in the final. The match was held at the Sovima Cricket Ground.
Meghalaya won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 230/7 in 50 overs, thanks to half-centuries from Arpit Bhatewara (72 off 113 balls) and Jaskirat Singh Sachdeva (55 off 57 balls). Nagaland’s batting lineup faltered, losing several early wickets, and despite a late fightback, they were dismissed for 120 in 34.3 overs.
Abhishek Kumar was named Player of the Final, taking 4/23 wickets. Arpit Bhatewara also received awards for Best Batter and Best Wicketkeeper.
This victory marks a significant milestone for Meghalaya, who had never progressed past the semifinal stage in previous editions. Nagaland had won the previous two editions of the tournament. The tournament was hosted by the Nagaland Cricket Association under the aegis of the North East Cricket Development Council, aiming to prepare teams for the upcoming BCCI 2025-26 domestic season.
