Shillong ( Meghalaya ) , July 14: Meghalaya based militant outfit , Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council(HNLC) triggered an IED blast at around 1. 40 am on the intervening night of 13th and 14th July at around 1:40 AM at the residential quarters of Police Reserve Khliehriat East Jaintia Hills district.
According to official sources , terrorists took advantage of dark and heavy downpour to enact this act of cowardice.
The explosion damaged a wall of one of the police reserve buildings.
However, there were no injuries or casualties reported.
Meanwhile ,HNLC has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
A case has been registered at Khliehriat ps case No. U/s 120B/121/121A IPC R/w section 3 Explosive Substance Act R/w sections 10/13 UAP Act.
Investigation is underway and one person has been arrested so far.
Khlierhriat is situated around 90 kms from here .
