Shillong (Meghalaya ) , Aug 21 : West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya has become the latest hotspot of Covid 19 with detection of 28 cases today with 24 cases from Shallang .
10 new cases reported in Shallang today, adding to the 14 from Thursday, which takes the total count to 24. 2 cases have been detected in Riangdo and 2 in the Corona Care Centre .
The District administration has declared containment zones from Star Fueling Station , Shallang Sohbar A to Shallang Rangmar Service station .
Elsewhere in the state , Eat Khasi Hills reported 33 new cases which includes 2 from Armed Forces, Khlieh lew Random Test 7 , Mothpran ( Barabazar ) Random Test 12 , Khyndailad (Poilice Bazar ) Random Test , 1 , 1 returnee , 1 patient each from Ganesh Das hospital and Woodland hospital.
West Garo Hills reported 3 new cases from Armed Forces , Ri Bhoi district 1 returnee , West Jaintia Hills 1 case from R. P . Chest hospital.
West Khasi Hills reported 28 cases in random testing with 24 cases from Shallang , East Garo Hills reported 2 cases who are returnees .
The active cases now stand at 973 after a total of 19 patients were discharged after recovery .
