Shillong ( Meghalaya), May 31 : A nurse who was six and half months pregnant succumbed to Covid -19 here on Sunday .
Late Manisha Turnia, was serving as a staff nurse at Ganesh Das Hospital, here.
She was admitted at the ICU of Ganesh Das Hospital after testing Covid -19 positive on May 25.
Subsequently ,she was shifted to isolation ward but her condition kept on deteriorating as her oxygen level kept on falling . On Sunday she finally succumbed to Covid -19 complications .
According to sources, prior to admitting her to ICU , she was unwell and had requested for sick leave but she was denied and had to do night shifts, too.
Interestingly, the State Government on May, 17 had directed that all physically challenged and pregnant employees be exempted to attend office during this lockdown.
