Shillong(Meghalaya), Feb 25: Mawlai SC edged closer to defending their OC Blue Shillong Premier League title, defeating Rangdajied United FC 1-0 at the SSA Stadium in Polo today.
This intense match saw Khrawkupar Jana score the decisive goal in the 36th minute, securing the win for Mawlai.
In another thrilling match, Langsning FC reclaimed fourth position by beating Laitkor SC 1-0, thanks to Melambha Shabong’s goal in the 90+2 minute. This victory marked a crucial turning point, as Langsning now leads Laitkor 24 points to 23, although Laitkor still has a game in hand.
Mawlai’s win not only brought them closer to the title but also knocked Rangdajied out of contention. With only two matches left, Rangdajied cannot surpass Mawlai’s 41 points. The sole remaining challengers, Shillong Lajong FC, trail Mawlai by 5 points.
