Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 26: Thursday, Feb 27, marks a significant milestone for the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) as its newly elected members will take their oath of office. This swearing-in ceremony heralds a fresh chapter in the council’s history, ushering in a new era of leadership and governance.
The VPP made history by sweeping the recently held district council elections, securing 17 out of 29 seats in the KHADC and emerging as the second-largest party in the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) with 8 seats.
According to sources, the VPP is likely to propose the following names:
Chairman: Strongpillar Kharjana
Vice Chairman: Kynjohlang Rangtong
Chief Executive Member (CEM): Shemborlang Rynjah
Executive Members (EMs): Powell Sohkhlet. Seiborlang Warbah. Isnei Hinge, Pynkhraw Kharjahrin .Aibandaplin L. Nonglait ,Deiti Majaw and Winston Tony Lyngdoh.
While the members will take oath on Thrursday , the election of the chairman and CEM will be held on Friday.
As the newly elected members assume their roles, they will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of governance, including education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and cultural preservation. The council’s executive wing, headed by the CEM, will work in tandem with the legislative and judiciary wings to ensure the effective administration of the district.
