Imphal (Manipur), April 22 : The state reported 86 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday, taking the active cases to 513. The caseload has now breached 30,000 mark.
In the last 24 hours, one person aged 56 years died, taking the death toll to 381, according to COVID-19 Common Control Room, Government of Manipur.
So far, 1,18,215 individuals have been vaccinated in the state, according to the latest information.
Meanwhile, the Manipur University has closed all the physical classes of the varsity from Thursday. Hostellers have also been asked to vacate their rooms immediately. Registrar of the university, Prof W Chandbabu Singh has issued orders in this regard.
On the other hand, work for installation of an oxygen generation plant is underway at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal, according to reports. The installation work is expected to complete by Monday.
It is the first of its kind for the Government of Manipur. JNIMS is a state government run public hospital. It has dedicated a COVID care centre and played an important role in flattening the curve last year during the first wave.
