Shillong (Meghalaya), May 05: Lajong FC and Janepih YSCA held first place in their groups as the 5th Meghalaya State League saw goals across eight matches on Monday.
Lajong beat Lamyrsiang SCC 3-0 in Wahiajer to stay top of Group E, while Janepih downed A’chik SCO Rongjeng 4-1 in Williamnagar to lead Group G. Akhebor Langrin, Pynshailang Kharsyntiew and a Rishembhalang Wanniang brace sealed Janepih’s win, with Klubarth M Sangma scoring ASCOR’s goal — the first Janepih have conceded in seven MSL 5 games. The loss ended ASCOR’s top two hopes.
Mawphu SC reached the pre-quarterfinals after a 1-1 draw with Mawlum Tyrsad SCC in Group B at Shillong’s MFA Ground. Ebetstar Nongbet opened for Mawlum Tyrsad before Banman Roy Nongsiej equalised.
In Amlarem, Laskein SCSC beat Lamin XI SCC 5-3 in Group C with a Bundaki Lamare hat-trick, moving to provisional second pending Tuesday’s Amlarem SC versus Mawlai SC result. Umlakro SC defeated Lawbah SC 5-2 in Group F as Chaster Makhroh hit a hat-trick. Mawshun SCC thrashed Umkaber SCC 6-1 in Group A. Ladthadlaboh SC and Thangskai Tiger SC drew 2-2 in Group D, as did Seng Samla Umdang Pyllun and Mawlarshong SC in Group H, ending Mawlarshong’s hopes.
