Shillong ( Meghalaya), Jan 25 : Senior United Democratic Party( UDP) leader , Jemino Mawthoh today, January 25, 2022 , said that no one should give communal colour to any incidents of violence that takes place in the state.
Mawthoh said there have been many violent incidents in the state where both tribals and non-tribals have been attacked by anti-social elements.
Mawthoh was reacting to some section of people holding a sit -in demonstration at Khyndai Lad in the heart of city in connection with a recent attack that took place at Lum Diengjri locality here .
Speaking to the media persons , Mawthoh, a former MLA of Nongthymmai Assembly constituency said that the law enforcing agency should take stern action against all violating the laws of the land and involving in violence , so as, to deter them from such unwanted activities in order to maintain peace and security among the society.
When asked about the alleged illegal transportation of coal from the state , Jemino Mawthoh said that the State Government has set up many committees to enquire into such allegations of corruption in the MeECL, killing of former member of HNLC leader C.Thangkhiew and others but it takes too long for the final reports to come out which creates frustration among the people .
“The people have the right to know of what is going on in the state” Mawthoh said, adding that if necessary he will discuss the matter within the party and later apprise the Chief Minister on the feelings of the people in the state .
