Shillong(Meghalaya), May 20 :Ms . Idashisha Nongrang, took charge as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya on Monday.
She has succeeded Dr. L.R. Bishnoi who retired from the post of DGP on Sunday after 35 years of service as IPS officer.
She is the first woman IPS officer to become the DGP of Meghalaya and was the Director General of Civil Defence and Home Guard in Meghalaya before being appointed as the DGP.
She is an IPS officer from the 1992 batch and will hold the post of DGP from May 20, 2024, until May 19, 2026.
Talking to reporters, DGP Nongrang said that it would be her endeavor to bring the police closer to the people by starting an ‘open house’ in the police headquarters for facilitating the public in general.
“We will start open house every Thursday from 12 am to 2 pm at the police headquarters to address the grievances of the people”, she added.
