Shillong (Meghalaya), Sept 6: Akashvani Northeastern Service Shillong proudly presented the G20 Concert for Communal Harmony, an event that brought together the power of music and unity in an extraordinary afternoon of entertainment and inspiration. The programme started off with the welcome address by Hamarlin Diengdoh, Head of Office, Akashvani Northeastern Service and Akashvani Shillong.
This remarkable concert, held today, at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, in the heart of Shillong, was a testament to the spirit of togetherness and cultural diversity.
The G20 Concert with the theme ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’- One Earth One World One Future featured an incredible lineup of artists from the Northeast.
The event was a resounding success, with scores of music enthusiasts from Shillong coming together to celebrate the beauty of diversity and the importance of communal harmony. Songs highlighting climate change and traditional ways of preserving environment were remarkably performed by students who are staying in Shillong and who belong to the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura. Popular army band ‘The Rhino boys’ led by Priyo Kumar Singh and the famous local band ‘2dB’ led by Felix Langstieh also performed and enthralled the audience.
Highlights of the G20 Concert for Communal Harmony included mesmerizing performances by young energetic musicians, captivating India’s rich cultural heritage.
The concert emphasized the vital role that music and cultural exchange plays in fostering peace, understanding, and harmony for the future Generations.
The event was also attended high ranking officers of Assam Regimental Centre Shillong and Smt RML Marbaniang, Head of Program Akashvani Shillong. Lianpuia Paite, Head of Programme, DDK, Shillong and Ferdinand A Dkhar, Head of Programme, Akashvani Northeastern Service also spoke on the occasion.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks that was delivered by Sugata Dey, Hindi translator, Akashvani Northeastern Service.
The show ended with the song ‘We are the World’ which was sung by all the artists including Ferdinand A. Dkhar, Head of Programme NES and Ferdinand Dkhar, the MC of the show. The audience did not want the show to end and shouted for more songs and the 2Db band fulfilled their demand.
