Shillong(Meghalya), April 16: Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Smt. Savitri Thakur, visited East Khasi Hills District in Meghalaya to review the implementation of flagship schemes aimed at promoting child welfare and women’s empowerment.
During her visit, the Minister inspected the One Stop Centre, Shakti Sadan, in Mawroh, where she interacted with 18 residents participating in vocational training programs. She encouraged their efforts towards empowerment and rehabilitation.
Smt. Thakur also visited the Child Care Institution at Mawkasiang, engaging with staff, children, and caregivers. She commended their efforts in providing care and support to vulnerable children.
The Minister’s visit aimed to assess the progress of key initiatives and connect with grassroots stakeholders. Her dedication to social work and commitment to empowering women and children were evident throughout her interactions.
