Shillong ( Meghalaya ),June 16 :Over 15 -days after 5 miners were trapped in an illegal rat-hole mine in Krem Ule, Umpleng under East Jaintia Hills district, one of them has been found dead today .
The recovery of the body was made by a team of Indian Navy personnel and search and rescue teams of the NDRF and SDRF.
The identity of the body has not yet been done .
According to sources , the body was stuck under debris in bottom of main shaft and was traced during the Deep Diving conducted by the Navy personnel approximately 120 ft below.
The body has been sent to CHC Khliehriat by Police for post mortem and identification.
Another body has also been traced along with the recovered body and is likely to be recovered soon.
The rescue operation at the mine is in progress since May 30.
The workers who are trapped in the mine have been identified as Abdul Karim from Boko, Assam, Abdul Kalam from Barpeta, Assam.,Shyamcharan Debbarma from Tripura, Anowarul Islam Barbhuiya, Assam and Abdul Sukkur, Assam.
Police have already arrested the owner of the coal mine, Shining Langstang for violating the NGT order banning unscientific mining and transportation of coal.
