Shillong (Meghalaya), April 5 : The CMJ Breweries Pvt Ltd in memory of their late Chairman Emeritus, Shri Chandmal Jain has donated an amount of Rs. 1 crore to support the state government to tackle COVID -19 crisis .
In a letter to the state Chief Minister Conrad A Sangma, the corportate house lauded the timely action by the state government to fight the pandemic and the unprecenteded situation of the lockdown where the whole world has come to a standstill.
‘Our family group would do best in its capacity to battle the Exponential Contagion to prevent the Mother Earth being sucked in a Black hole’ , the letter stated.
The letter further stated that the company has tentatively earmarked areas of use in phases as per the need of the government for One crore like( a.) Hand Sanitizers in bulk of 10/20 ltrs to the Health Department worth 50 lakhs (b.) Sanatazing chemicals for 15/ 20 tanks for sanitizing Khanapara to Byrnihat areas of the state in Fire Brigade Tankers (c.) 50 tonnes of rice for distribution to the needy people to be identified by the local MLA/ Headman and their teams so that the rice reaches the actual needy people of the area .
The letter also intimated that the company is already distributing rice, dal,vegetables,for around 400 local people who were employed with the company as daily wage earners and noe rendered jobless in wake of the lockdown.
‘ As a responsible corporate house based out of Meghalaya for more than 100 years we are committed to support in any manner as suggested by the Meghalaya ‘,the letter added .
Meanwhile , Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has thanked the CMJ Breweries for taking the initiative to support the government to tackle the #Covid19 crisis.
