Shillong (Meghalaya), Mar 10 : Chief Minister Conrad Sangma made a stylish statement at the State Assembly’s Budget Discussion, wearing a shirt made from local Eri fabric. This bold move aims to promote Meghalaya’s rich cultural heritage and support local entrepreneurs like Kong Iaishah Rymbai of Eri Weave, who successfully landed a deal at Shark Tank India.
During the discussion, CM Sangma announced plans to gift PM Modi and Union Ministers with Eri gifts sourced from Meghalaya’s farmers and weavers. This initiative will not only promote the “Made in Meghalaya” Eri brand but also contribute to the growth of sustainable fashion and empower rural communities.
By embracing Eri fabric, CM Sangma is setting an example for others to follow, highlighting the importance of preserving traditional craftsmanship and promoting eco-friendly fashion.
