Shillong (Meghalaya), Sept 25: In a significant move, the Meghalaya Cabinet met today to approve several key proposals aimed at streamlining processes and enhancing efficiency.
Simplified Licensing for Hotels:
The Cabinet greenlit the addition of new rules under the Meghalaya Excise Rules, introducing a composite license for hotels. This move eliminates the need for separate licenses for food and beverage services, simplifying operations for establishments like hotels, restaurants, and bars. The change is expected to benefit existing and upcoming 5-star hotels, making Meghalaya a more hospitable destination.
QR Code Tracking System:
To curb counterfeit liquor and enhance revenue tracking, the Cabinet approved the implementation of a QR Code Tracking System. This innovative system will enable real-time monitoring of liquor sales, production, and stock updates through QR code holograms on bottles. This technology will help optimize excise department functionalities and boost revenue generation.
Key Appointments:
The Cabinet also approved two significant appointments:
Lt. Col. Shabestian Marbaniang (Retd.) as the Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Shillong, for a 5-year term.
Heimonlang Nongpluh, IPS (R), to a key role, further strengthening the state’s administrative framework.
These approvals demonstrate the Meghalaya government’s commitment to simplifying processes, leveraging technology, and enhancing administrative efficiency.
