Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 25: A bomb threat at Umroi Airport led to the cancellation of flights, leaving passengers stranded and frustrated.
In an exclusive interview with South Asia Views, journalist Starfing Pdah shared his harrowing experience: “It was one of the worst experiences to be told that the flight was cancelled after reaching the airport. Now, I have to take a flight from Delhi to Guwahati Airport tomorrow evening and will only be able to reach Shillong by midnight. The airport authority could have intimated us before we started for the airport.”
Pdah’s sentiments were echoed by other affected passengers, who expressed disappointment and inconvenience due to the lack of prior notification.
Airport officials confirmed that the bomb threat was received earlier today, prompting immediate security protocols. “The safety of passengers is our top priority,” said an airport spokesperson. “We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resume normal operations as soon as possible.”
Flight cancellations affected multiple routes, including Delhi-Shillong and Kolkata-Shillong and security agencies are investigating the source of the bomb threat.
