Shillong ( Meghalaya ), Oct 26 : The shopkeepers and purchasers at the tomato stall at Iewduh Market in the heart of the city were panic stricken when they heard the news that someone has placed a bomb in front of a shop on Tuesday .
Immediately ,the shopkeepers downed their shutters and fled from the scene.
Eyewitnesses said that they saw a person near the tomato stall placing a bag containing some hard stuff and disappearing from the scene.
The eyewitnesses that said when the man left the place, they saw smoke coming out from the bag.
After the news spread like wildfire that a bomb was placed at a tomato stall police immediately rushed to the spot and removed the bag .
One of the shopkeepers, who did not want to disclose her identity said that the police told the onlookers that the smoke was due to nitrogen gas.
The police temporarily cordoned off the area and when things normalized they allowed the shop keepers to resume their business activities
