Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 21 : The state vice president Wankitbok Pohshna in a statement issued here today has said, in the recent past, we have frequently been coming across news bytes and articles, which claim that BJP and NPP are the same parties. We at BJP view this as a misinformation campaign aimed at misleading the people of Meghalaya.
For a start, BJP is a national party founded after the Jan Sangh days on 4th April 1980 and its core ideology is based on the concept of integral humanism as coined by our ideologue Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya. It is a party that reveres India’s diverse cultural traits, address region specific needs of people and architect’s developmental solutions that benefit all Indians. For BJP the nation’s interest is paramount and welfare of every citizen is the guiding principle. This all-encompassing view has given rise to an entire range of central schemes and beneficial programs like – Ujala Scheme, Vishwakarma Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Scheme, Ayushman Bharat Scheme, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, Viksit Bharat Ambassadors, Gao Chalo Abhiyan and much more. Leave aside the NPP, which other party can boast of such a range of schemes aimed at uplifting every section of the society?
Any wonder then that BJP rules 17 to 18 states in the country and is also the Govt at the centre. It’s worthwhile to mention here that the NPP is a party whose presence even in the North East is negligible outside Meghalaya and non-existent outside the region. NPP is a party that was formed post the split of the Congress and in reality, is an offshoot of the then NCP.
By terming NPP is BJP, they forget that the nation knows too well that the national president of BJP is Jaggat Prakhash Nadda and the Prime Minister is Narendra Modi and no NPP member has a say in BJP’s model of governance. NPP is only a partner in the NDA, an alliance formed by the BJP during Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s prime minister ship, and currently the BJP is only supporting the NPP led govt in Meghalaya like other regional parties are doing.
What differentiates the BJP from any other party is our clear position against corruption, nepotism and dynastic rule. Narendra Modi has no other alternative and fears no opponent, no matter what some regional or national leaders might say!
We would also like to make an emphatic point, that the BJP fights elections on its own and has never needed support from any other party. The party is once again ready to lead the nation post the coming Lok Sabha elections and after the recently concluded national convention held in New Delhi, the state unit of BJP is effectively gearing up for the MP elections with organizational strengthening under the leadership of the state president Rikman G Momin. Various flagship programs like the ‘ Gaon Chalo Abhiyan ‘and meeting the beneficiary campaign are underway to create a strong connect with the general voter.
As per tradition, the central parliamentary board will declare the name of candidates who will contest from the BJP in both Shillong and Tura seat and the process is currently ongoing, stated Pohshna.
