Imphal (Manipur), Aug 26 : Unknown armed miscreants shot dead one youth allegedly involved in rape case after abducting from his home. The incident took place today early morning around 2 am at Kumbi Khuga Wangma Turel Mapal, Kumbi Ward No. 2 under Kumbi Police Station under Bishempur District.
The deceased person has been identified as Khangembam Sanjoy (36), son of Kh. Manglemba of Kumbi Setupur Maning Leikai.
A team of Kumbi Police rushed in and picked up the body and deposited at RIMS mortuary after being inspected by Manipur Police Forensic team. The deceased had two bullet mark on the neck and chest of his body.
According to a report received from the localities, deceased Sanjoy had been in jail under POCSO act for rape case of a 16-year minor old girl in 2018. He was abducted by unknown armed miscreants from his home while sleeping today early morning, the localities informed.
It may be recalled here that proscribed militant outfit UNLF had already announced capital punishment to those involved in the rape case of the minor girl. However, as of now no militant groups or outfits has made claim of the incident.
On the other hand the proscribed militant outfit RPF PLA has claimed the responsibility of the killing of Khangembam Sanjoy (36) as per the press release issued by Bangkim, Assistant Secretary Publicity, RPF.
