Shillong (Meghalaya) , June 4: Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over the 73rd Plenary Meeting of the North Eastern Council here on Thursday, with all Northeast Governors and Chief Ministers pressing for policies that percolate to all seven sister states and Sikkim.
Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar, Home Secretary Govind Mohan and DoNER Secretary Sanjay Jaju joined the three-day session, which is reviewing recommendations from sector-specific task forces on tourism, agriculture, horticulture, investment promotion, self-reliance in milk, eggs, fish and meat, sports, infrastructure and connectivity.
Scindia posted on X that the council was “united in our resolve to realize a stronger, more prosperous #RisingNortheast.” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared a photograph from the meeting, calling Shah the “Architect of Peace in modern India.”
After the plenary, Shah is scheduled to visit Tripura to review border security arrangements and assess infrastructure projects.
