Srinagar, April 20: At least 23 people died and 30 others sustained injury after a passenger bus carrying them plunged into a gorge in the Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
The incident took place when at 10 in the morning when the bus travelling from Ramnagar to Udhampur turned turtle as the driver was trying to negotiate a curve leaving 15 people died on the spot.
Immediately after it local residents and policemen jumped into the rescue operation and rushed over 37 people to the hospital where 7 were declared brought dead. Over 6 have been battling for life in the hospital.
President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, J&K CM Omar Abdullah condoled the death and asked the authorities to ensure best possible treatment for the injured.
