Shillong, Oct 6: Meghalaya’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 has crossed 94% completion, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) now set to visit homes to collect documents, Chief Electoral Officer Dr. B.D.R. Tiwari said after a review meeting with DCs, DEOs and EROs on Tuesday.
Out of 21.69 lakh electors in the Draft Roll, notices were issued to 6.51 lakh electors — 2.22 lakh for ‘No Mapping’ and 4.28 lakh for mapping discrepancies. Of these, 6.51 lakh notices have been delivered and 6.13 lakh cases (94.14%) have completed hearing. Only 344 notices are pending.
So far, 1,510 electors have been found ineligible, while 19.96 lakh have been cleared for final publication.
In a major voter-friendly move as per ECI direction dated Sept 26, electors issued notices need not visit ERO offices. The BLO will come to their doorstep to collect documents and upload on ECINet. Hearing, if required, will be online, and a family member can appear on behalf of the elector.
23,259 new forms have been received and digitised, and 1,814 Booth Level Agents from political parties, NPP (736), BJP (393), VPP (320), INC (186), UDP (121) and AITC (58) are assisting in the process.
The Final Electoral Roll will be published on 26th October 2026.
