Shillong, Sep 24: Shillong Lajong went top of the Shillong Premier League 2026 with a clinical 3-0 win over Laitkor at the SSA Stadium today.
Freddy Jyrwa (27′), Rimankhraw Kharumnuid (63′) and Iohborlang L Lyngkhoi (77′ P) scored as Lajong moved to 14 points from seven games, overtaking defending champions Langsning (13).
Laitkor started brightly with keeper Deranius Wahlang pulling off a flying save in the 4th minute, but a mix-up between him and Richarles Rani gifted Freddy the opener.
Laitkor never recovered. Wadskhem Marbaniang had their only shot on target saved by Lakpa Lama, before Lajong killed the game — Rimankhraw firing in a scorcher after a quick switch from the left, and Iohborlang converting from the spot after Riborlang L Lyngkhoi was fouled.
Laitkor have now lost all four SPL meetings against Lajong.
Lajong’s stay on top may be short. Unbeaten Mawlai (11 points, +7 GD) face Nangkiew Irat tomorrow at 3pm and will retake first place with a win.
