Shillong, Sep 18: Laitkor SC snapped their poor run with a crucial 2-1 win over Sawmer in the Shillong Premier League 2026 at SSA Stadium here today.
Hamingbert Nongbet was the match-winner, heading in twice (18′, 63′) either side of Bickyson Kharkongor’s 38th-minute leveller for Sawmer.
The result keeps Sawmer fourth on 9 points, missing a chance to go top. Laitkor remain ninth in the relegation zone but move to 6 points, just one behind four teams tied on 7.
Laitkor began on the front foot. Hamingbert kissed the side netting in the 6th minute and Shanborlang Thangkhiew smashed a long ranger from near the centre circle against the crossbar in what could have been the goal of the season.
Laitkor’s pressure paid off in the 18th minute when Balajiedlang Lyngwa’s cross found Hamingbert, who headed past his marker.
Sawmer responded well. Michaelson Kurbah fired just wide in the 30th minute before Diego Khyriem was stopped by a superb tackle outside his box by debutant Laitkor keeper Hukumskhem Marbaniang.
Sawmer equalised in the 38th minute after Mark Wanswett’s close-range shot looped up. Bickyson beat the keeper to the loose ball to score.
The decisive moment came in the 63rd minute. Wadskhem Marbaniang delivered from the right and an unmarked Hamingbert stooped low to head in the winner.
Next up, bottom-placed Mylliem take on seventh-placed Meghalaya Police on Monday at 3pm.
