Imphal, Sep 15: In a fresh orgy of violence in Manipur, militants killed two Kuki community at Leisangphai in Jiribam district on Tuesday forcing the authority to beef up security in the entire area.
According to police, the incident of attack took place when a group of Kuki women were collecting firewood and the armed militants allegedly belonging to the Naga community opened fire on them, killing Chonga Sitlhou and Ng. Kimneo Singson on the spot. Then the militants vanished towards the dense forest areas.
The various Kuki organisations have blamed it all on the NSCN-IM and ZUF-K for the incident.
“The mortal remains of every such victim shall instead be preserved in the nearest available cold-storage facility until further directions are issued by the Kuki-Zo Council,” said the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC), an apex body of the community.
Notably, over the last 72 hours 6 Kuki civilians were killed.
Security forces have arrived in the spot and have started the combing operation.
