Shillong, Sep 15: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday flagged off three Mobile Medical Units to take healthcare to over 2 lakh people in 93 villages.
The MMUs, supported by Altius under CSR and run by Apollo Foundation – Total Health, will cover Mawpat and Pynursla in East Khasi Hills and Baghmara in South Garo Hills.
Each unit has doctors, medical staff, medicines, diagnostics and tech-enabled EMR, and will focus on NCD screening, cancer and eye check-ups, besides referrals.
Flagging off the units, Sangma said health and education have been his government’s top priority since 2018, adding that real success will be measured not by the launch but by lives saved on the ground.
