Imphal, Sep 13: In yet another incident that keeps Manipur on the boil again, armed militants killed a couple in Tamenglong district where their son sustained serious injury.
According to information, militants opened fire on the family at Tollen village in the hills district on Sunday wee hours. Two children managed to escape unharmed.
On Sunday afternoon unidentified militants killed 2 more persons in Sempat village who were identified as Thangvel Gangte and Julie Gangte.
BJP, Congress along with other political parties have categorically condemned the attack on the villagers and demand strict action against the militants. Former Manipur CM N Biren Singh described the Tollen attack as “deeply disturbing and heartbreaking”.
He said, “safety and security of innocent civilians must remain our foremost concern. Such violence only adds to the suffering of ordinary people and further undermines the fragile path towards peace.”
