Shillong (Meghalaya), May 28: Nongkseh SSCC and Rymbai Shkenshynriah SC clash for a spot in the 5th Meghalaya State League final when they meet in the first semifinal at the SSA Stadium on Friday at 6pm.
Unbeaten Nongkseh topped Group A in the quarterfinal league stage and bring a squad loaded with Indian Football League experience in Hardy Cliff Nongbri, Shano Tariang, Sheen Sohktung and Chesterpaul Lyngdoh. The club has not lost a game in 2025 and counts on deep talent and loud home support to push for the final.
Shkenshynriah return to the last four after a penalty shootout loss to Shillong Lajong FC in MSL 4. The East Jaintia Hills side, the only non-Shillong semifinalist, finished second in Group B and carries veterans Skilful Tariang, Hesmiki Rymbai, Niwan-o Bareh and Jeremy Nongtdu. After topping Group D and beating Amlarem SC in the Round of 16, they recovered from two losses to Langsning FC with four wins over Nangkiew Irat SC and Maram FC to reach the semis.
Nongkseh start as favourites, but the MSL has seen plenty of upsets and Shkenshynriah have already proved they can match the state’s best.
