Shillong (Meghalaya), April 21: Meghalaya has launched CM-INSPIRE, a cash-assistance scheme for UPSC aspirants, as Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma moved Monday to arrest the slide in indigenous representation in the civil services.
“For many years, our representation in the civil services has declined. Today, we take a decisive step to change that with the launch of CM-INSPIRE,” Sangma said while announcing the initiative.
The scheme offers ₹50,000 to candidates who clear the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination and ₹1 lakh to those who clear the Mains. Sangma said the goal is to cut financial barriers so deserving aspirants are not forced out by costs.
“The government stands firmly with you on this journey,” he told young aspirants, asking them to stay focused on their goals.
Applications will open on the Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute portal. Officials said CM-INSPIRE is part of a larger push to build a pipeline of young leaders from the state into the all-India services.
