Shillong (Meghalaya), April 12 : Police swooped down on Shillong’s hotspots, arresting 16 individuals for alleged prostitution activities near churches and other public areas. The operation, led by Additional SP Lovish Garg IPS and SDPO Pyrusla B Wanswet MPS, targeted Police Bazar, Presbyterian Church, and IGP Point.
The raid follows public complaints about obscene acts and solicitation, amid rising HIV cases in the city.

The arrested individuals face charges under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Meghalaya Police Act. Police are investigating possible links to larger organized networks.
