Tura (Meghalaya), March 16 : Police arrested former MDC Sofiur Raham for allegedly delivering inflammatory speeches that sparked violence in Garo Hills. Raham’s statements reportedly fueled tensions, leading to clashes in Tura, Williamnagar, and Chibinang.

He was taken into custody from his New Bhaetbari residence in West Garo Hills. Authorities have filed multiple FIRs against Raham and former MLA S.G. Esmatur Mominin for making provocative statements.
Security forces have been deployed in sensitive areas to prevent further escalation.
