Shillong (Meghalaya), Sep 24: Meghalaya’s iconic Cherry Blossom Festival has been crowned the winner of the prestigious Golden Banyan Award in the Best Cultural Music & Dance category at The Week Heritage Awards 2025. This achievement is a testament to the festival’s growing popularity and its role in establishing Meghalaya as India’s premier concert destination.
The award was received by Brenda L. Pakyntein, Director of Tourism, from Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at a grand ceremony in New Delhi. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma congratulated Team Meghalaya Tourism and Team Rockski for consistently delivering this spectacular event each year.
This recognition comes on the heels of the festival’s success at the WOW Awards Asia 2025, where it won two gold awards in the categories of “Special Event of the Year – Government/Organisation” and “Festival of the Year”. The festival has become a signature event, drawing visitors from across India and beyond with its vibrant blend of music, culture, and natural beauty.
