Shillong (Meghalaya), Sept 10 : On Monday night ( 9th September 2024), a woman reported an assault by a taxi driver at Laban Police Station. Concerns were raised about the conduct of the officer on night duty, alleged to be under the influence of alcohol, leading to a dispute.

The Women Police Station promptly assisted the victim, and a case has been registered based on her FIR. An enquiry was swiftly conducted by the Laban Sector Police Officer, and departmental action has been initiated by the SP, East Khasi Hills, against the officer concerned.
