Shillong (Meghalaya), Aug 3 :The Punjab Government established Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda (Punjab) will provide a golden opportunity to students of far flung areas of the North Eastern Region (NER) with a World class quality technical education, best placements in government as well as private sector, safe, secure and conducive environment for study in the premier institute.
The MRS-PTU will also provide attractive scholarship schemes, Welfare Schemes of the Center and state government for NER students as well as safety and security environments for NER students in the premier institute of Punjab Government.
This was stated by renowned academician and administrator MRS-PTU, Registrar, Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar at a press conference held at Shillong Press Club here on Wednesday .
Dr. Brar along with Senior officials Dean Consultancy and Industry Linkagecum-Chairman, Admission Cell Dr. Manjeet Bansal, Director, Public Relations, Mr. Harjinder Singh Sidhu and Director, Training and Placement, Mr. Harjot Singh Sidhu of the University was in Shillong to start on spot Admission and Counselling of the MRS-PTU for North East States.
It may be mentioned here that MRS-PTU Chairman Board of Governors-cum Principal Secretary to Government of Punjab, Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training Punjab, Shri Rahul Bhandari IAS and Vice Chancellor Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu recently launched the Admission portal of the University for the Academic Sessions 2022-23. The Admission for Academic Session 2022-23 is open for Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Commerce and Management, Pharmacy, Food Science and Technology, Agriculture, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Computational Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Skill Development and Online Certified Courses in Emerging Technologies i.e. Data Science, Blockchain, Programming Languages, Cyber Crime, Machine Learning, Patents & IPR, Business Intelligence and many others.
Dr. Brar said technical education plays a vital role in human resource development of the country by creating skilled manpower, enhancing industrial productivity and improving the quality of life of its people.

Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar said the university will help the students of North Eastern States realising dreams in Higher education, getting prestigious jobs in Government and private sector and studying abroad through various pathway programmes initiated by the premier University.
All Central and state government scholarship and welfare schemes are available in the government university, he said. Punjab Chief Minister Scholarship for Meritorious Students up to 100 percent fee waiver for brilliant students, Ishan Vikas and Ishan Uday schemes (for NER students) are being implemented for the students of the North Eastern region by the University.
The Government of India (GOI) has launched Special Scholarship for North- East Students many schemes and initiatives for the betterment and development of the North-eastern region of India. Science & Technology Interventions in the North East Region (STINER) to motivate them to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics and to facilitate internship opportunities for the engineering college students in various institutes of national importance.
The Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme is administered by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Under the scheme scholarship is provided to the students having parental income up to Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum from the North East Region for pursuing general degree, technical and professional degree courses including medical and para-medical courses.
