Shillong(Meghalaya), Jan 27 : 6 more patients succumbed to the infection on Thursday ,taking t death toll to 1,509, a press statement from Health Services said.
3 fatalities were reported from East Khasi Hills, 2 from newly created Eastern West Khasi Hills and 1 from South West Khasi Hills .
The state ‘s Covid tally rose to 89,839 as 288 more people tested positive for the infection, the statement added .
East Khasi Hills district, topped the list with 197 new cases, followed by 38 in West Garo Hills, and 13 in Ri-Bhoi.
The active cases now stand at 2,415, while 85,915 people have recovered from the disease so far. A total of 361 patients were declared recovered in the last 24 hours .
The department has so far tested over 13.12 lakh samples for COVID-19.
