Tura( Meghalaya), Nov 5 : The back and forth demand and decline in regard to the price hike of fuel between the A·chik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM) and the state government has yielded results with the state government finally reducing the VAT tax to control the price rise of the fuel sources reported Friday.
George Prince Cheran Momin, vice-president of AHAM while welcoming the decision of the state government to reduce the tax considering the pain of the people of the state expressed his gratefulness to the state government for giving ear to the voice of the people.
There has been a continual uncontrolled price hike of fuel for the last several days, and many NGOs especially, A·chik Holsitic Awakening Movement (AHAM) as an organization and the people of the state has been expressing grievances over the issue.
The Centre government has been on the forefront to reduce the VAT tax on the fuel and has asked its counterpart state government to reduce the VAT tax on fuel on Thursday.
‘We, as the organization welcomes the move of the government and we are grateful to the Chief Minister for giving us his support,’ informed George Prince, the Vice President of AHAM(CEB).
Momin said that he hoping that the state government would be proactive in other developmental issues in the region too. ‘Price of LPG is another issue that our organization has been demanding the state government to reduce,’ he added.
It may be mentioned that AHAM has been demanding the state government to reduce the VAT tax on fuel to relieve the common man of the state to which the CM of the state has given a denial earlier but due to mounting pressure by the people of the state and the organization as well as the urge of the centre government, the state government finally reduced the VAT tax in the state.
