Shillong ( Meghalaya), May 21 : Veteran songwriter and singer, Rana Kharkongor passed away this morning at 9 am at NEIGHRIMS here .
He was was infected with Covid -19 virus and was batting with his life for the past few days .
Kharkongor was in a very critical state and was undergoing treatment in the ICU and was on ventilator support .
He was a legendary musical exponent that have pioneered large scale Khasi music album production Jingkieng Ksiar.

He will be remembered for his patriotism, sentimental, rural life, humour and every ethnic emotions as reflected through his lyrics.
He was also a recipient of the Meghalaya State Award, the Tirot Sing Syiem Award for Arts and Literature.
