Shillong(Meghalaya), April 5 : The Chief Minister”s Relief Fund in Meghalaya has received a donation of Rs 1 crore from billionaire Mukesh Ambani for its fight against COVID-19.
Taking to Twitter, CM Conrad K Sangma thanked the business tycoon, his wife and Reliance Industries for the generous contribution.
“Thank you Mukesh Ambani ji, Nita Ambani ji & #RelianceIndustriesLimited for your generous donation of Rs. 1 Crore towards the Meghalaya Chief Minister”s Relief Fund.
Donations from responsible corporate citizens will go a long way in championing our fight against #COVID2019, Sangma tweeted on Saturday night.
Meghalaya state is right now completed sealed has not yet reported any COVID-19 case .
Meanwhile , the Meghalaya State Electricty Corporation clarified that the appeal of the Prime Minister to the people is only to voluntarily switch off their lights from 9:00 – 9:09 p.m. this evening .
There is no call to switch off electrical appliances including TVs, refrigerators etc. Street lights and lighting in hospitals and places rendering Essential Services will continue to remain switched on during this period.
Adequate arrangements have been made to handle the variation in power supply and demand during this period, for the protection of the power grid
